Brink Productions presents a Belvoir and Malthouse Theatre production -- Stories I Want to Tell You in Person by Lally Katz, 29 October - 8 November, 2014 at The Bakehouse Theatre, 255 Angas Street, Adelaide.

Lally Katz was commissioned to write a play about the global financial crisis the thing is - and this is a true story - Katz spent her commission (and then some) going to see a fortune teller. In New York. More than once. This is the story of what Lally was doing instead of writing a play.

Stories I Want to Tell You in Person features Lally, on her own, as herself, embroiled in a tale of art, love, money, shoes, and the apocalypse (of course).

Anyone who's met her will know that the word 'irrepressible' has nothing on Lally, even at her quietest. She likes to be laughed at, and her method is to talk first and think later. Anything could happen when she's onstage, anything!

Stories I Want to Tell You in Person is directed by Anne-Louise Sarks with design by Ralph Myers, lighting design by Damien Cooper and music composition & sound design by Max Lyandvert.

Brink Artistic Director Chris Drummond said, 'Brink is working with Lally on a new collaboration for 2015/16 and we thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for Adelaide audiences to see Lally up close onstage in her hilarious one woman show'.

Born in New Jersey, Lally Katz lived briefly in Miami before her family moved to Australia when she was aged nine. She graduated from the University of Melbourne's Victoria College of Art in 2000. A prolific writer for the stage she had written around 20 full-length plays by 2005. Her first major success was The Black Swan of Trespass (2003) which earned her awards for Excellence in Writing and Best Theatre Production from the Melbourne Fringe Festival, and the Producer's Choice Award from the New York International Fringe Festival. In addition to some twenty playscripts, Katz has written occasional episodes of television and regularly scripts short films.
