THIS OLD MAN COMES ROLLING HOME is a 'slice of life' Australian drama set in 1950s Redfern Sydney. Written in a fair dinkum ocker vernacular, the play inhabits the world of the Aussie battler, encompassing values from an Australia that has largely faded away.

The narrative follows the fluctuating fortunes of the Dockerty family and the trials and tribulations of inner city life, exploring themes of alcoholism, poverty and love.

'Hewett's play champions the fortitude of those whose destinies are often shaped by others' (Hayes, 2010). Pathos and tragedy are ever-present yet the play is immersed in humour, making it a heartfelt and enjoyable experience for all.

Adelaide's Bakehouse Theatre will host twelve performances of the show presented by Adapt Enterprises, today, July 17-20, 24-27, 31 and August 1-3. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are priced $28 for adults, $23 for concession and $23 each for groups of 6+. They can be purchased online at www.bakehousetheatre.com or with cash at the door (subject to availability).
