Oliver Lansley (Artistic Director) and James Seager (Producer) of Les Enfants Terribles said: "We were overwhelmed by the innovation and talent of the five shortlisted companies for The Stepladder Award, but we're thrilled to award ThisEgg with The Stepladder Award.

We set up The Stepladder Award with house and Wilton's Music Hall to assist and support a fringe theatre company with their future ambitions. When we began Les Enfants Terribles, we know we would have benefitted from this kind of guidance so we're thrilled to award ThisEgg this unique opportunity which has been severely lacking for theatre companies in the UK."

Holly Kendrick, Executive Director at Wilton's Music Hall, said: "At Wilton's we are committed to sharing our stage with exciting and contemporary artists and so we're delighted to be welcoming ThisEgg to Wilton's this Autumn as the first winners of The Stepladder Award. It's been a privilege to partner with Les Enfants Terribles and house for the first ever The Stepladder Award, a necessary award in UK theatre which will enable ThisEgg to continue to grow as an exciting emerging voice in British theatre."

Submissions for The Stepladder Award opened on 8 March 2017, the judging panel, made up of Les Enfants Terribles, Wilton's Music Hall and house, saw five shortlisted shows during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe before choosing a winner.
