The Union Theatre will present Sweeney Todd beginning Wednesday 12 November through Saturday 6 December 2008.

In the classic Victorian melodrama, Benjamin Barker returns to Fleet Street in search of his wife and daughter having been exiled to Australia under false charges by the Great Judge Turpin. Resuming his profession as a Barber, Barker recreates himself as Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Aided by Mrs Lovett and her ailing Pie Shop, Sweeney Todd is a tale of passion, revenge, filth and gore.

"Expect to be terrified under the railway arches of Southwark as award winning Director, Sasha Regan and the production team behind The sell-out ALL MALE Mikado (Critics Choice – 5 Time Out) take you on a journey to the depths of Victorian London. Book early to avoid disappointment," describe press notes.

The cast will feature: Christopher Howell (Sweeney Todd), Emma Francis (Mrs Lovett), Stephen Rashbrook (Judge Turpin), Adam Ellis, Leon Kay, David Kristopher-Brown (Pirelli), Nigel Pilkington (Beadle Bamford), Róisín Sullivan (Beggar Woman).

Music direction is by Christopher Mundy and choreography is by Sally Brooks.
