Two-Time Olivier Award Winner Henry Goodman Takes Final Bow as Degas in U.K.'s THE LINE, 11/23 - 12/12

Whatsonstage.com is reporting that two-time Olivier Award winner Henry Goodman will star as French impressionist Edward Degas in the world premiere of The Line, by Timberlake Wertenbaker.  The production will play at the U.K.'s Arcola Theatre from November 23 - December 12. 

The play, which is told in a series of sketches and directed by Matthew Lloyd tells a story about what happens when Suzanne Valadon, a brash single young mother, forces her way into Degas's quiet life.  The two argue over the future of art while being watched by Degas' housekeeper.

Goodman is joined in by Sarah Smart (from TV's Casualty 1909) as Suzanne Valadon and Selina Cadell (who most recently performed in Sam Mendes' Bridge Project productions of The Cherry Orchard and A Winter's Tale) as Zoe Closiers.

Seven-time Olivier Award-winning designer William Dudley designs.  The production is co-produced by the Arcola and West End producer Karl Sydow.

Timberlake Wertenbaker's additional works include Our Country's Good, Three Birds Alighting on a Field, The Break of Day, Credible Witness, Breaking Through and Jenufa.

Henry Goodman is a two-time Olivier Award winner for The Merchant of Venice and Assassins. Additional stage credits include: Fiddler on the Roof, The Exonerated, The Birthday Party, The Hypochondriac and Duet for One opposite Juliet Stevenson this year at the Almeida and subsequently in the West End.
