Opening on November 11 in the Main House is Tennessee Williams' classic The Glass Menagerie. Known as his first great Broadway success and winner of the New York Drama Critic's Circle Award, The Glass Menagerie is Williams' most autobiographical play. Tom, a young would-be poet, struggles to support his overbearing and sentimental mother and his delicate, obsessive sister. The subject of this deeply touching, family drama is the most fragile of all human emotions - hope. The show will be directed by Joe Hill-Gibbins, who recently directed the sell-out The Beauty Queen of Leenane. Esteemed Olivier Award winner Deborah Findlay will lead the cast as Amanda (as well as being a regular on stage, she has recently played a central role in the popular BBC drama Cranford). Performing alongside her are rising stars, Sinead Matthews (on screen Mike Leigh's Happy-Go-Lucky and Vera Drake and on stage Our Class; Women of Troy both NT,The Wild Duck, Donmar) and Leo Bill (on screen Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, and on stage Posh, Royal Court and The Observer,NT). Composing an original score will be Oscar and Golden-globe award-winning composer Dario Marianelli (Atonement and Pride and Prejudice).
