*** SHAKESPEARE'S BIRTHDAY PARTY - FREE ENTRY TO ALL ***

Following on from the success of last year's event, Shakespeare's Globe will once again throw open its doors to the public on Saturday 23 April in celebration of Shakespeare's birthday.

Celebrations will take the form of a birthday party to honour William Shakespeare with a range of games, tours and performances all bringing alive the spirit of the greatest writer in the English language. The event is open to all with activities suitable for the whole family. Doors will open at 9.30am.

For one day only members of the public will be able to perform their favourite lines from Shakespeare on the stage graced by some of the most famous actors of our day, such as Vanessa Redgrave, Gwenyth Paltrow, and Joseph Fiennes. Every hour Globe actors will be on hand to give professional advice on performing Shakespeare and budding performers will be able to find out what it's really like to tread the boards on this extraordinary stage. Specially devised games and side-shows, period and modern music and traditional party food will add to the festivities.
This event is supported by the Mayor of London as part of the celebrations for St George's Day 2005
