The Rose is delighted to welcome the local community to become apart of a Community Play, Our Town: A Kingston Story.
Artistic Director of the Rose Theatre, Stephen Unwin said "The Rose isn't simply a theatre, it's a cultural centre for everybody. I keep looking for opportunities to involve local people in what we do, and I'm thrilled to announce OUR TOWN: A KINGSTON STORY, the Rose's Community Play. This will be a devised piece, directed by Jamie Harper and written by Ciaran McConville, which will draw on local people's memories of the past, experiences of the present and dreams of the future. We believe that this is the perfect time for local people to come together and create a piece of theatre that celebrates the town in which they live. We want everyone to get involved: contribute to the story, come and act onstage, make costumes, paint the set and so on. And we need people to promote the production, organize the day-to-day management, and help us find generous local companies who can support it.
