RENT The Musical comes to The Old Rep, Birmingham.

After performing at this year's Pride Birmingham, Michael Neri presents RENT The Musical at The Old Rep from Tuesday 26 - Saturday 30 July. 2016 is a particularly exciting time for the rock musical, as RENT celebrates its 20th anniversary. This brand new production has been created entirely in Birmingham and hosts an impressive cast of local professional actors, including Sutton Coldfield's Timothy Gough as Roger.

Jonathan Larson's adaptation of Puccini's opera La Bohème adds a twist of exuberant East Village rock, resulting in RENT's stirring and life-affirming score. RENTcaptures the heart and spirit of a generation of struggling artists, addicts, and impoverished young people living in the shadow of AIDS, battling the coming wave of gentrification. A critically acclaimed and well-loved musical, RENT has received the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pullitzer Prize for Drama. Also, having given over 5,000 performances, RENT is the seventh longest running Broadway show in history.

Michael Neri, producer of RENT The Musical, said: "I adore the show and have wanted to produce and direct RENT since I was 16. The music itself is so beautiful. The story looks at relationships between lovers and friends and takes the audience on their journey. Every lyric in this show has a meaning; nothing is thrown away. I am privileged to have such an exceptional cast and creative team to bring RENT to life."

RENT The Musical plays at The Old Rep from Tuesday 26 - Saturday 20 July, 7.30pm. Tickets start from £20 each, and are available from the Box Office on 0121 359 9444 (open Tue-Sat 10am-6pm) or at oldreptheatre.co.uk (online booking fee applies).
