AndrewLloydWebber.com reports "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" has been nominated for a prestigious 2007 International Emmy Award.

"The show is one of four nominees vying for the International Emmy for non-scripted entertainment. The other nominees are Argentina's CQC, Spain's The Prison Choir and Japan's Takeshi Kitano presents Comaneci University Mathematics," explains the website, "Winners of the 35th International Emmy Awards, which honor television produced outside the US, will be revealed on November 19 in New York."

Webber found success "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria" and "Any Dream Will Do" last year as a reality series to cast his West End productions of The Sound of Music and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

A reincarnation of the TV casting reality show will air in Canada this coming season to help cast a Maria in the upcoming Toronto production of The Sound of Music.

The reality casting show craze that Webber and David Ian started with "Maria" has yielded successful results in the UK, it has yet to take off in America, where NBC's "Grease: You're the One That I Want" - which led to the casting of Laura Osnes and Max Crumm in the Broadway revival of Grease - was regarded to have been a ratings disappointment.

Webber finds that shows such as "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria" and "Any Dream Will Do" can make young audiences enthusiastic about going to the theatre.
