The leading ladies of musical theatre battle it out in this fascinating and very diverse category, beginning with Charlotte Wakefield, nominated for an Olivier Award for her critically-acclaimed portrayal of the rebellious nun-turned-governess, Maria, in the revival of Roger and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music. She has been previously nominated in this category for originating the role of Wendla in the West-End transfer of Spring Awakening.

Jenna Russell is another with multiple nominations and wins, and is once more in the running after playing Mary, in the West End revival of Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along.

On the flip side, there's Rosalie Craig, up for her first Olivier Award after creating the role of the gravity-defying Althea in Tori Amos' much anticipated The Light Princess.

And there's Zrinka Cviteši?, in her West End debut as Girl in Once, who has been delighting UK audiences since the show's opening.

Keep up-to-date on Oliviers night (Sunday 13th April) with BWW:UK's live coverage!
