Conor McGee

Douglas Hodge's nomination comes for his portrayal of the charismatic, zany Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He's previously won two Olivier Awards for his roles in Guys and Dolls and La Cage Aux Folles, in 2005 and 2009 respectively. Though critics praised Hodge's performance, the show itself wasn't universally well-received.

Gavin Creel gains his first nomination for originating the role of Elder Price in the UK production of The Book of Mormon, as does his co-star Jared Gertner as Elder Cunningham.

The quartet is rounded off by Kyle Scatliffe, another first-timer, nominated for his portrayal of the strong, defiant and innocent Haywood Patterson in The Scottsboro Boys. Scatliffe was the stand-out star of the show, and has since returned to Broadway as Enjolras in the revival of Les Miserables.
