West End performer and finalist of BBC Television's Eurovision - Your Country Needs You Mark Evans has returned to his birthplace and this week (August 17th to 22nd) is staging his summer school West End in Wales, www.westendinwales.com, held at Theatr Elwy (St Asaph, Denbighshire).

Held from today until Saturday West End in Wales is a musical theatre summer school aimed at children 10 to 17 years old. The six day workshop trains participants in areas of singing, dancing and acting by Mark and guest tutors from the world of West End theatre.

Founded in 2006 West End in Wales the school gives a unique opportunity for teenagers to work alongside West End professionals currently starring in some of London's top rated shows. This year the school welcomes guest teachers Sally O'Brien (Mamma Mia) and Richard Reynard (Blood Brothers, Cats, Chicago and The Witches of Eastwick) along with Mark Evans (Troy Bolton in High School Musical, Wicked, Spamalot, Chess)

Born and raised on a typical Welsh farm in Llanrhaeadr in Denbighshire, North Wales, Evans grew up with a passion for performing. Leaving home at the age of 16 Evans headed for London to train professionally and has now turned his hobby into a very successful theatre career. Last year Evans played the lead role of Troy Bolton in the Disney stage show High School Music before auditioned for the television series Eurovision - Your Country Needs You. Presented by Graham Norton and Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber the series auditioned hundreds of hopefuls in a bid to find a singer who would represent the UK in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow. After singing for Lord Lloyd Webber Evans was selected to enter the contest and over the course of the series he performed live to the nation every Saturday evening. Winning the weekly public phone vote Evans made it through to the final show and was the only male singer to do so. He still remains in contact with Lord Lloyd Webber and details of Mark's next West End show will be released towards the end of this year.
