Louise Dearman, Fra Fee, and More Lead ON THE TOWN at BBC Proms

The BBC Proms announce the full cast for the concert performance of Bernstein's On the Town at the BBC Proms on Saturday 25 August, with John Wilson and the London Symphony Orchestra.

The cast comprises leading lights from the world of stage and screen. Nathaniel Hackmann and Louise Dearman will lead the cast in the roles of 'Gabey' and 'Hildy', while Fra Fee who, alongside Nathaniel Hackmann, rose to prominence through his role in Les Misérables, takes on the role of 'Chip'. In addition, West End Phantom of the Opera stars Celinde Schoenmaker and Nadim Naaman take on the respective roles of 'Claire' and 'Ozzie'. ArtsEd graduate Siena Kelly continues on from the Open Air Theatre production of On the Town in the role as 'Ivy Smith', and fellow Phantom alumnus Claire Moore portrays 'Madame Dilly'. Bass and former English National Opera Harewood Artist Barnaby Rea will play 'First Workman/Judge Pitkin'.

Veteran actor and voice artist Kerry Shale will narrate the production. His body of work spans decades, including prominent roles in films such as Little Shop of Horrors, Yentl and the upcoming Angel Has Fallen, as well as a wealth of roles for the BBC including radio plays Dr. Strangelove and A Confederacy of Dunces and television voice roles in Dr. Who, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe and Thomas and Friends.

Associate Artist of Mountview Academy of Theatre and Arts, Martin Duncan, will be the Stage Director for this unique concert performance of On the Town on what would have been Bernstein's 100th birthday.

On the Town is one of a number of events programme around the Bank Holiday to commemorate the centenary of Bernstein's birth. Full event listings can be found at bbc.co.uk/proms.

On the Town will be at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 25 August at 7.30pm and broadcast live on BBC Four and BBC Radio 3 where it will be available for 30 days thereafter on BBC iPlayer https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer.
