A technical problem temporarily halted Andrew Lloyd Webber's lavish revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, according to the Lanchashire Evening Post.

The article states that "a nightmare technical problem put a damper on Lee Mead's dream debut in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The show was halted after just six scenes on its opening night for about 10 minutes due to 'technical difficulties,' the audience was told. Fans were left waiting while the problem was sorted - thought to be an issue with the rotating floor...despite the first half hiccup, it was a standing ovation for the cast of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical at the end."

The West End revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat began previews at the Adelphi Theatre on July 6th.  The production, which opens on July 18th, will play an extended booking period through June 7th, 2008.

Mead was chosen to star in the title role through the hit UK reality talent search "Any Dream Will Do." Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat also stars Preeya Kalidas as the Narrator, Dean Collinson as Pharaoh and Stephen Tate as Jacob/Potiphar/Guru.

John Alastair, Kate Alexander, Jennifer Ashton, Paul Basleigh, Verity Bentham, James Bisp, Tyman Boatwright, Simon Coulthard, Lucie Downer, Tom Gillies, Emma Harris, Pip Jordan, Louise Madison, Emily Mascarenhas, Sarah Meade, Nathaniel Morrison, Mark Oxtoby, Adam Pearce, Tamlyn Platts, Pippa Raine, Fiona Reyes, Ricky Rojas, Craig Scott, Jonathan Stewart, Kate Tydman, Russel Walker, Neal Wright and Danielle Young comprise the ensemble.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, with music by Webber and lyrics and book by Tim Rice, is a light-hearted reimagining of the biblical tale of Joseph, who is betrayed by his 11 brothers but finds a happy ending after adventures in Egypt.  The staging of the West End revival will be based upon that of Steven Pimlott's 1991 production.
