It's almost six decades since Hollywood funny men Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy completed the last of a series of legendary UK theatre tours. But the boys are heading back to the West End, with Simon Lloydand Neil Bromley delivering an uncanny portrayal of the most loved comedy duo of all time, in Tom McGrath's acclaimed play, Laurel and Hardy.

Laurel and Hardy plays at Jermyn Street Theatre from Wednesday July 1 - Saturday July 18. Press night is WednesdayJuly 1 at 7.30pm. Laurel and Hardy begins in a limbo-like waiting room somewhere between this life and the next as the boys retrace thehighs and lows in their long careers. They bicker then make up, swap gags and re-enact some of the most memorable comedyroutines in cinema history.

Occasionally taking on the guise of other characters in their rich lives, they gradually build a touching portrait that illustrates the very essence of their unique relationship and reveals that their reallife personas were very different from their on-screen characters.

Stan Laurel, born in 1890 in Ulverston, Cumbria, and Oliver Hardy, born in 1892 in Harlem, Georgia, appeared together in more than100 films, from their early silent ‘shorts' of 1928 to their last featurein 1950. Along the way they gained a world wide fan base. Sincetheir deaths in 1957 and 1965, the laughter has continued as newgenerations of fans have discovered them through TV repeats and more recently on DVD.
