Heralded as the ‘hottest artist on the classical music planet' by the New York Times, 26-year-old Lang Lang's career has seen him play sold out recitals and concerts in every major city in the world. In his only London performance in the 2010 season, Lang Lang returns to the Royal Albert Hall to perform ‘in the round' for the very first time.

Performing completely unaccompanied this production will encourage an intimate and immersive dialogue between Lang Lang and his audience. With a virtuosic programme of Beethoven, Albéniz and Prokofiev this solo concert concentrates on the incredible talent of this extraordinary musician.

The full programme for this one off performance:
Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 3 in C, Op. 2
Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 23 in F minor ("Appassionata"), Op. 57
Albéniz: Iberia Book 1
Prokofiev: Piano Sonata No. 7 in B flat major Op. 83

Last year over 5 billion people viewed Lang Lang's performance in Beijing's opening ceremony for the Olympic Games and earlier this year he was named as one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people. Lang Lang will perform at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 21 May 2010. Tickets for go on sale on Monday 13 July at 9am.

Presented in association with BBC Music Magazine.
