If you think Type 1 diabetes is a disability, think again. This satirical one-man show follows the real-life story of one diabetics journey and the obstacles he has overcome to make his dreams come true. Keep calm I'm only Diabetic is written and performed by Jon-Sel Gourkan.

This one-man show is full of heartbreak and tears, but in a career spanning professional sport, music and show business this is ultimately a tale of laughter, joy, and how to reach for the top when the odds are stacked against you.

Jon-Sel Gourkan has an eclectic life story having had careers in professional sport, music, and as an actor. He had trials in Turkey and signed as a professional footballer with First Division Altay FK and then went onto play for Galatasaray under 21`s. This all ended abruptly when he couldn't continue due to being a Type 1 diabetic.

Jon-Sel then pursued a path in music, joining pop act Word On The Street (WOTS), which toured the UK and was nominated for Best New Tour Act on The Smash Hits Poll Winners Show. Jon-Sel went on to sign a solo deal, and his single 21st Century Man was used on the American version of Queer as Folk. Acting credits include Love`s Labour`s Lost at the Royal Shakespeare Company and Karen Bruce`s West End Hit Fame the Musical.

This is the first time a show has been done about the experiences of living with type 1 diabetes from a type 1s personal view point.

The show aims to raise awareness and to help inspire those to persist with their dreams.
