PRIDE AND PREJUDICE is coming to Sheffield's Crucible Theatre this May with an up-and-coming leading lady -- Isabella Laughland -- in the role of 'Elizabeth Bennet." Tamara Harvey directs.

Artistic Director Daniel Evans told the Daily Mail that "the time has come" to revamp the casting of Jane Austen's classic tale.

"We're not doing an all-white production of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE -- and I'm really proud of that," he said. "We want to be adventurous!"

Laughland, whose mother is from Guyana and whose father is British, has appeared on the big screen in the HARRY POTTER films and recently appeared onstage in KING LEAR at Chichester and BAM, opposite HP alum Harry Melling. The actress also graced the stage in THE LAST OF THE HAUSSMANS at the National.

Michele Austin, who is black, will play Mrs. Bennet, and THE IMITATION GAME and BELLE's James Northcote will star as Mr. Darcy.
