Immersive Drama THE WHITE PLAGUE Comes to London

This April, London-based international theatre collective Ferodo Bridges is set to transfer the sell-out immersive hit THE WHITE PLAGUE from Greece for a strictly limited run at the recently reopened Landor Space in Clapham.

Rewritten and recast specifically for London, THE WHITE PLAGUE imagines a city beset by a fiercely contagious blindness epidemic, sweeping through the population and leading to the containment of the infected in unprepared quarantine facilities. The inmates of these facilities develop their own dysfunctional communities, increasingly built on discrimination and exploitation, with basic needs and even communication between them becoming a struggle.

THE WHITE PLAGUE follows five of the infected, left to survive in these inhumane conditions until a woman attempts to lead them to freedom.

For this uniquely immersive production the audience is placed right at the heart of the action, experiencing the story through every sense but their sight. Sharing the 'white blindness' of the characters by wearing specially designed masks, audiences will hear, feel and even smell the action as it unfolds around them.

Alexander Raptotasios, Artistic Director of Ferodo Bridges, said "This story is about the conflict between survival and humanity, individual and community. In bringing it to London we had to re-imagine it and take into account the city's diversity and its struggles. It has been really exciting to incorporate Londoners in the cast and the creative team as we believe theatre should strive to be as local and direct as possible."

THE WHITE PLAGUE is a visceral, unforgettable experience, presented with a limited audience capacity. After an 8-week sell-out run at BIOS in Athens this run marks the production's first international transfer and appears at the Landor Space ahead of a UK tour in 2019.
