So, on the fourth live show, the Lord decided to change the format. Rather than eliminating one of the bottom two at the start, they were told of their destiny then, and then everyone had to go through the entire rigmarole before doing an elimination at the end.

"I found it very hard judging the sing-offs at the start!" bleated Andrew Lloyd Webber, and one might have wondered why this hadn't been considered beforehand when the format had been tried and tested successfully in his previous four talent show searches...albeit on the BBC.

Regardless, this time round, he opted to save David Over Tim, justifying it based on acting ability, but praised the eliminated contestant as a strong performer with a future in the industry.

And so tonight the show finished with a performance of 'Ruby' from the Kaiser Chiefs. No, I don't know why either.
