It is 1943 and the Nazis have captured a certain General George Geoffrey Bungle of Strategic High Command and have taken him to SPARROW HEIGHTS, the most feared prison in all of Germany...ever.

His only hope of rescue lies with Captain John Smith and his team of terribly brave chaps. Their mission: save the General before he spills the beans and reveals the secret ingredients of a top secret chemical compound so explosive it could blow Nelson off his column in the blink of an eye.

An unashamedly epic tale of derring-do, this action packed romp features a fine array of dashing well-oiled chaps, buxom heroines, plucky POWs, pesky double agents, squadrons of screaming aircraft and a fully loaded magazine of machine gun howls. With nail-biting scrapes and edge-of-your seat escapes, SPARROW HEIGHTS pays homage to many of the great (and not so great) war movies of all time.

"It's almost teatime and we've got a General to find,
so look sharp chaps and get a wiggle on."

Sparrow Heights is presented by Horla Productions who are returning to the Greenwich Playhouse after a successful run of their Christmas production of GRIMMS at the venue.

" ... the evening has a sustained macabre vision that will cause shivers of delight among adults and older children, as well as a cheeky undercutting humour (...) this is one of those theatrical occasions where the pleasure the cast take in their work is immediately conveyed to the audience." THE GUARDIAN (GRIMMS 2003)

Writer Martin Hearn's recent Theatre includes extensive work with Nasty Sweets. Productions include ‘The Terrible Train of Tarot Terror' (Etcetera), ‘A Faceful of Fists' (Wimbledon Studio), ‘The Thingumywotsit' (Hen & Chickens). Other Theatre includes ‘The Mourning After the Night Before' (Rose & Crown Theatre). Short films include ‘Kissing Lear'.

Director Alistair Green's recent productions include The Thingumywotsit at the Hen & Chickens, Little Red Riding Hood at the Cannizaro Park Festival, GRIMMS - The Final Chapter, A Christmas Carol at the New Wimbledon Studio and Trafalgar Studio 2, Rumplestiltskin and Other Grizzly Tales at the New Wimbledon Studio and Dennis Potter's Brimstone and Treacle at the Bridewell Theatre. His other directing credits and stage adaptations comprise numerous productions at the Rose and Crown Theatre (Hamlet, A Doll's House, The Horla, Don Q, Poe and others), as well as GRIMMS 2003 at the Greenwich Playhouse, Steven Berkoff's: Decadence for GRiP Theatre and Kvetch at the BAC, and Samuel Beckett's Roughs For Theatre at The White Bear. Alistair is the Artistic Director of Horla.
