End of Moving Walkway presents the world premiere of LAUGHING MATTER at King's Head Theatre, playing 22 June-16 July with press night on Tuesday 28 June.

"My friend comes to me. Like most of my friends he's a theatre maker. His dad has died. And he wants us to make a play about it."

James shows Paul his phone. On it is Quick Voice Pro, a voice recording app. He has hundreds of hours of recordings of conversations from his life. Taken in secret. James says that his mum doesn't want him to make the play. Paul suggests that it's probably not ethical. James reminds Paul that we're all going to die anyway.

Based on believed to be true events, End of Moving Walkway's first devised play, Laughing Matter, looks at ideas of fiction, representation and what it takes to live in an absurd world. To book tickets, call 0207 226 8561 or email boxoffice@kingsheadtheatre.com

Taking the writing reins for the first time, this thrilling and acclaimed young theatre company returns to the King's Head Theatre following its critically acclaimed revival of Arthur Miller's The Man Who Had All the Luck in 2015, and its Whatsonstage award-nominated debut production of Will Eno's Oh, the Humanity and Other Good Intentions at the Tabard Theatre in 2014.

Founded in April 2014, End of Moving Walkway's debut production was Will Eno's Oh, the Humanity and Other Good Intentions at the Tabard Theatre, September 2014. It was nominated for a What's On Stage award for Best Off-West End Production, and received two Off-West End nominations for Best Director and Best Supporting Male. That year End of Moving Walkway signed Equity's Professionally Made Professionally Paid scheme, signaling its commitment to paying fair wages on the Off-West End scene. An advocacy of professional approaches to producing and responsible, considered attitudes towards programming and creating work in smaller venues has become central to the company's identity. After a successful short run of Matthew Dunster's You Can See the Hills at the White Bear in July 2015, the company launched its second major production at the King's Head Theatre in September 2015. Arthur Miller's The Man Who Had All the Luck was an ambitious project given a bold revival.
