Jim Creighton, David Haig, James Hayes, Doon Mackichan and Javone Prince will join previously announced Matt Di Angelo in Joe Orton's Loot, directed by Sean Holmes at the Tricycle Theatre. Loot will run from 11 December – 31 January with press night on 15 December. Designs are by Anthony Lamble with lighting by Charles Balfour and sound by Greg Clarke. Loot will tour to Newcastle Theatre Royal from 2-7 February after its opening at the Tricycle.
Loot follows the fortunes of Dennis and Hal, two young lads who hijack Hal's mother's coffin to stash the loot from a recent heist. The plot thickens as her body keeps turning up around the house, the unscrupulous police Inspector Truscott arrives on the scene sowing confusion around him, whilst Nurse Fay works her dubious charms on Hal's Dad.Matt Di Angelo (Hal) was most recently seen in BBC 1's hit show Strictly Come Dancing followed by a National 'Strictly' tour. His previous screen credits include playing Deano Wicks in EastEnders which he played for two years, Felix in I Dream, Ewan Blair in Project C, Lance in There's a Viking in My Bed, Robbie in Harbour Lights, Telling Lies and Laugh On The Bus. Loot will be Matt Di Angelo's professional stage debut.Jim Creighton (Meadows) was previously directed by Sean Holmes in The Entertainer at the Old Vic where he also appeared in On the Middle Day. His other theatre credits include Market Boy, The RoyAl Hunt of the Sun, The Merchant of Venice, Money, Summerfolk, Troilus and Cressida, Peter Pan and An Enemy of the People all for The National Theatre and Brand and The Merchant of Venice for the Royal Shakespeare Company. His screen credits include King Lear, The Merchant of Venice and A Perfect Crime.Javone Prince (Dennis) has previously been directed by Sean Holmes in Richard III and Measure for Measure for the Royal Shakespeare Company. His other theatre credits include In the Red and Brown Water and Raisin in the Sun for the Young Vic, Statement of Regret and Burn/Chatroom/Citizenship for The National Theatre, Out of the Fog at the Almeida and Sugar Mummies for the Royal Court. On television his work includes Horrible Histories, The Bill, Tittybangbang and Little Miss Jocelyn.
Sean Holmes most recently directed Twelfth Night and Moonlight and Magnolias for the Tricycle. His other work includes The Man Who Had All the Luck for the Donmar Warehouse, Translations, The Mentalists, A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Caucasian Chalk Circle for The National Theatre. His productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company include Julius Caesar, Richard III and The Roman Actor. His other productions include Singer and The Price for the Tricycle Theatre, the latter went on to tour nationally, Incomplete and Random Acts of Kindness for the Royal Court and Cleansed and Home for Oxford Stage Company (now Headlong), where he is an Associate Director. Joe Orton's work as a playwright includes What the Butler Saw, Entertaining Mr. Sloane, The Erpingham Camp and Loot, nominated for four Tony Awards.Videos
