Swapping concert halls and TV studios for the intimacy of one of London's leading fringe theatres might be a challenge, but it's one Charlotte Jaconelli is looking forward to.

She came to public attention when she competed in Britain's Got Talent in 2012, alongside singing partner Jonathan Antoine, and since then has gone solo, releasing her album 'Solitaire' in June 2014.

And now she's gone back to her musical theatre roots, having trained at Arts Ed, and is about to lead the cast of She Loves Me at the Landor Theatre.

"You can see everything that's going on," she agrees. "I think sometimes in big theatres, things get lost in the background. Here you can see every aspect of it.

"Yes, it's scary. It's very different for me, I'm used to theatres where you have a gap between you and the audience, and they're just faces, you can't see anyone's expressions. Here, you get instant feedback, which is quite nerve-wracking. I'm excited to experience something different."

And she's got a fantastic role as well - Amalia has been played previously by the likes of Barbara Cook, Judy Kuhn and Gemma Craven.

"I couldn't have asked for anything better! I get to sing about ice-cream every night and potentially eat ice-cream every night. The songs are ones I've grown up singing for auditions and at school - it's a role I've always wanted to play so it's amazing to be able to do it for my debut."

Musical theatre is certainly something Jaconelli wants to pursue ("it's always been where my heart is"), but she also intends to keep on with her concerts and recordings - and has plenty coming up in the near future, so any fans who don't get tickets to see her in She Loves Me will be able to see her at another gig soon.

"There's loads in the pipeline. I'm taking it day by day. I'll be back on tour - with a few friends of mine - up and down the country. It's all really exciting!"
