As described by Riverside Studios, the musical takes place "In a hidden back street of Paris, a group of animals still perform the Carnival as Monsieur Saint-Saens intended. But when a suprising new troupe arrive the show is revitalised. However, the animals are unaware of the danger that lurks from the infamous fashion designer, Madamoiselle Parfait."

Most recently seen in the Royal Shakespeare Company's The Merry Wives of Windsor last year, Dobson was a previous contestant on Strictly Come Dancing. She has also played Gertrude in a production of Hamlet and is known for her role as Angie Watts in the soap EastEnders. Dobson also appeared in The National Theatre's Frozen, for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award. Dobson has also appeared in the West End's Leave Him to Heaven (1976), Budgie (1988), Nine (1992), Thoroughly Modern Millie (2003) and in a London concert production of Into the Woods (2006).
