According to the Daily Mail, Andy Nyman (ASSASSINS, ABIGAIL'S PARTY, GHOST STORIES) and Craig Parkinson (in several shows at Open Air Theatre, MARTIN GUERRE) will take over the roles of 'Syd' and 'Inspector Fry' when Martin McDonagh's HANGMEN transfers to the West End this winter.

Nyman, who saw the Royal Court cast in action, joked to the Mail: "It's had the perfect cast -- now I'll be the one to mess it all up." More seriously, he added, "It works brilliantly as a comedy, as a farce, as a thriller -- and as historical social comment."

HANGMEN, which just finished its run at the Royal Court Theatre's Jerwood Theatre Downstairs, transfers to the West End's Wyndham's Theatre on 1 December 2015. David Morrissey, in the lead role of 'Harry', will travel with the production.

Per press notes, HANGMEN is set in a small pub in Oldham, where "Harry is something of a local celebrity. But what's the second-best hangman in England to do on the day they've abolished hanging? Amongst the cub reporters and sycophantic pub regulars, dying to hear Harry's reaction to the news, a peculiar stranger lurks, with a very different motive for his visit. 'Don't worry. I may have my quirks but I'm not an animal. Or am I? One for the courts to discuss.' Martin McDonagh returns to the Royal Court with his first UK play in more than ten years. Matthew Dunster directs."

'Syd' (originally played by Reece Shearsmith at the Royal Court) is one of the titular hangmen. 'Inspector Fry' (first created by Ralph Ineson) is a regular at the pub 'Harry' runs in his retirement.

Also joining Morrissey in the cast are Josef Davies, James Dryden, Johnny Flynn, Graeme Hawley, John Hodgkinson, Bronwyn James, Ryan Pope, Sally Rogers and Simon Rouse.

HANGMEN features designs by Anna Fleischle, lighting by Joshua Carr and sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph.
