Stars of stage and screen including Amanda Holden, Michael Crawford, David Tennant and Catherine Tate have signed one-off pairs of pants; all customised by the expert wardrobe departments from 18 of London's main West End shows.

An auction of the unique boxer shorts will run on Ebay over the next 10 days, from 6pm this evening, raising funds for entertainment industry charity, the Make A Difference Trust.

Dubbed ‘The Pants Project', the auction follows hot on the heels of the Trust's Sunday night show and party fundraiser, West End Bares, held at Café de Paris.

Hosted by TVs fashion guru, Gok Wan - famous for his expert styling in dressing ordinary people up as well as making thEm Look good naked - and Legally Blonde's original lead Sheridan Smith, the event, involved around 100 of theatreland's finest performers and attracted more than 1,000 guests and celebrities.

During the event, billed "a night of fun, flesh and fashion," all 18 pairs of pants were paraded on the catwalk by various stage performers, to promote the online auction.

A myriad of other stars have autographed the spectacular underwear memorabilia, too, in their current roles as performers of hit West End productions, from The Wizard of Oz to Les Miserables; Much Ado About Nothing to Shrek - The Musical.

They include: Matt Lucas, Rupert Everett, Richard Blackwood, Kara Tointon, and Natalie Casey.

Steven Inman, Charity Director of the Make a Difference Trust said: "This is a novel and fun way to raise money for good causes and we are fortunate to have the support of so many big names backing the Pants Project and its aims to help sick people in hardship. The pants are destined to become must-have mementos and are sure to attract a lot of interest from fans."
