Michael Rose and Chris Moreno, the producers of Aladdin A Wish Come True at the Theatre at the O2, made the decision yesterday to cancel today's 2.00pm matinee performance (12 December).

This was because crucial technical work needed to be carried out on the mechanism that enables the magic carpet to fly during the show. In the show, Aladdin, played by Jon Lee, flies above the audience on the magic carpet and it is truly one of the breathtaking moments of the show.

At the request of the producers, Michael Rose and Chris Moreno, the technical aspects of the carpet were improved still further in order to make this illusion as spectacular as possible, and they are delighted to report that the magic carpet is flying better, higher and further out over the audience than ever before.

Michael Rose added, "Jon Lee, as Aladdin, will be flying across the audience on his carpet at tonight's press night, but rest assured that Lily Savage's Widow Twankey will remain firmly planted on the ground – well, you wouldn't want to catch a glimpse of her bloomers above your head! We're sorry for any inconvenience caused to people who were attending today's matinee, but they will be able to enjoy all the spectacles, songs and jokes at one of the other performances during the show's run at the O2 until 5 January 2013."

Anyone needing to exchange their tickets should contact their original point of purchase. For more information, visit: http://www.theo2.co.uk/event/aladdin-a-wish-come-true-20121207.html
