On Sunday, October 29th at 4pm, Young Artists of America at Strathmore (YAA) presents The Sound of Music in Concert. The performance will include the original 1959 symphonic orchestrations by Robert Russell Bennett and feature over 100 local middle and high school student-artists from the YAAOrchestra, YAACompany and YAAJunior. The performance will take place at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in the Dekelboum Concert Hall (8270 Alumni Dr., College Park, MD).

"We are thrilled to be able to expose our students to this seminal work of the American musical theatre, complete with its original symphonic orchestrations as it was intended to be heard," Says YAA Founder and Producing Artistic Director, Rolando Sanz. "The Sound of Music has now become part of the soundtrack of our collective lives, and witnessing the next generation of talented young performers bring life to this score is truly an honor as an educator."

Carole Graham Lehan will narrate this timeless tale of the Von Trapp family's escape from the Nazis on the eve of WWII. Lehan is a Helen Hayes Award nominated actress, playwright and stage director who is currently the Performing Arts Director at the Glenelg Country School.

Tickets for The Sound of Music in Concert will go on sale on October 5 and range from $18 to $28. For more information please visit www.yaa.org.
