The Kennedy Center presents an evening with NSO Principal Pops Conductor and Tony Award®-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch on November 16, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in the Terrace Theater. The event will feature an intimate interview with Mr. Hamlisch conducted by ASCAP's Michael Kerker, and will include performances by Liz Callaway, Kevin Early, and Karen Ziemba. The evening is part of the Explore the Arts 2009-2010 season.

Marvin Hamlisch, now in his tenth season as Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra, has won virtually every major award that exists for the field of composing: three Oscars®, four Grammys®, four Emmys, a Tony®, and three Golden Globe Awards. His groundbreaking show, A Chorus Line, received the Pulitzer Prize. He has composed more than 40 motion picture scores including original compositions and/or musical adaptations for The Way We Were, The Sting, Sophie's Choice, Ordinary People, and most recently, The Informant, starring Matt Damon, directed by Steven Soderbergh.

Actress, singer, and recording artist Liz Callaway received a Tony Award® nomination for her performance in Baby. Her other stage credits include a five-year run in Cats, the original casts of Miss Saigon, The Three Musketeers, and The Look of Love, and her Off-Broadway performance in The Spitfire Grill, which earned her a Drama Desk nomination. She performed as the singing voice for characters in the films Beauty and the Beast and Anastasia, for which she sang the Academy Award®-nominated song "Journey to the Past," and won an Emmy for hosting the children's television program "Ready to Go."

Kevin Earley's Broadway credits include A Tale of Two Cities, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and the Broadway and national touring companies of Les Misérables. On the Los Angeles stage, he received an Ovation Nomination for his performance in the L.A. premiere of Side Show and an L.A. Drama Critic's Circle Award for his performance in 1776. He also appeared in The Ten Commandments playing Ramses against Val Kilmer's Moses.

Tony Award®-winning actress, singer, and dancer Karen Ziemba received the Tony®, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle awards starring in Susan Stroman and John Weidman's Contact. On and Off-Broadway, she has appeared in Chicago, Crazy for You, and Steel Pier, for which she received a Tony Award® nomination as well as Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations. She received the Drama Desk Award for Kander and Ebb's revue And the World Goes ‘Round and a Tony® nomination and Outer Critic's Circle Award for Never Gonna Dance. Her film credits include the 2005 film The Producers and The Devil and Daniel Webster, directed by Alec Baldwin and starring Anthony Hopkins.
