Synetic's Teen Company Presents THE TAMING OF THE SHREW

By:

Synetic's Teen Company is a year-round training program dedicated to developing the next generation of artistic performers.

Following in the footsteps of our Main Stage Company, the next generation of Synetic stars will perform "The Taming of the Shrew," March 23 - April 1. In this comedic and electrifying piece, set amongst the extravagance of Hollywood and inspired by paparazzi darlings like the Kardashians, a temperamental duo goes toe to toe in one of Shakespeare's earliest romantic comedies. This production is directed and choreographed by Irina Tsikurishvili.

About the Director & Choreographer

Irina Tsikurishvili is the Co-Founding Choreographer and Associate Artistic Director of Synetic Theater, and has choreographed and starred in over two-dozen productions. Irina made her Synetic Theater Mainstage directorial debut with this season's performance of Dante's Inferno. She is a 33-time Helen Hayes Award nominee for both choreography and acting, and has won the Award for Outstanding Choreography eight times. Her choreography was also featured in the 2013 film Swan Song.

About Synetic Theater's Teen Company

Synetic's Teen Company is a year-round training program dedicated to developing the next generation of artistic performers.

Teen Company members gain confidence, discipline, and the ability to challenge themselves and their peers. Artists' study and train in the infused theatrical methodologies of Growtowski, Lecoq, Stanislavski, and Chekhov through the Synetic-style. The teen cast work closely with professional directors, fight and movement choreographers, and as part of their mentorship receive special coaching on character and technique from senior Synetic company members.

Many teen program alumni go on to appear in main stage productions and find success outside the DC Theater Scene! Eliza Smith and ZanaGankhuyag were on stage as two leads in our December production of Sleeping Beauty alongside another teen alum, Emily Whitworth. Brittany O'Grady is currently starring in the new FOX television series STAR.
