Savage in Limbo, the contemporary classic by Award-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley, starring Natascia Diaz will kick off MetroStage's new season. Performances are Sept. 8-Oct. 16, Thurs and Fri at 8, Sat at 5 & 8, and Sun at 3 & 7. Tickets $45-50.

The Bronx tale about a quintet of bar regulars in search of life, love, and answers to some of life's most existential questions. Written with wit and sharp insight into these unforgettable characters, Shanley's smart provocative dialogue takes us on an emotional and intellectual roller coaster ride. 

Award-winning actress Natascia Diaz will play the role of Denise Savage. In a tie with theatre legend Chita Rivera, Ms. Diaz took home the 2009 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical for her critically acclaimed performance as Monica P. Miller in MetroStage's world premiere of ROOMS a rock romance. Best known for her feature in the acclaimed documentary EVERY LITTLE STEP, Ms. Diaz's Broadway credits (and original cast albums) include Man of La Mancha, where she performed the role of Aldonza opposite Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Seussical; Off-Broadway credits include By the Way, Meet Vera Stark, Jacques Brel (and cast album for the acclaimed 2006 production), and Tick, Tick...Boom! with Joey McIntyre (NY and LA, receiving the 2006 LA Ovation Award nomination). Favorite credits include Elektra in AGAMEMNON AND HIS DAUGHTERS (Arena Stage), Anita in West Side Story (Kevin Kline Award in St. Louis, Joseph Jefferson Award in Chicago), Aurora/Spiderwoman in Kiss of the Spiderwoman (Signature Theatre), and Petra in A Little Night Music (Kennedy Center). Ms. Diaz was last seen by New York audiences in June jumping into the cast of the Off-Broadway Cy Coleman review,The Best Is Yet To Come, and last summer in the Public Theatre's production of Paul Simon's The Capeman directed by Diane Paulus. Her performance in the central role of Esmeralda Agron garnered praise by Michael Reidel of the New York Post and the New York Times as, "heartbreaking...one of the most magnetic musical theatre performances of 2010".
