After The Curtain is the second show for the eclectic dance company, conceived and choreographed by two-time Emmy Award-winner Travis Wall, and tells the story of a man fighting to find his creative voice after the death of his one true love. After The Curtain debuted in March of this year to fantastic reviews. TheaterJones in Dallas said, "It is overwhelmingly beautiful," and The Los Angeles Times described it as "...a sinuous blend of athleticism, artistry and storytelling; sexy, soapy and spectacular."

Travis Wall will dance the part of protagonist Vincent, and will be joined on stage by Lex Ishimoto, this year's winner of FOX television's So You Think You Can Dance. Lex returns to After The Curtain to perform the part of Jude, Vincent's destructive alter-ego. Travis and Lex received great acclaim when they danced a combative number from After The Curtain on the So You Think You Can Dance season finale.

GABY DIAZ, the Season Twelve SYTYCD winner returns to SHAPING SOUND. Always a fan favorite, Gaby was Lex Ishimoto's dance partner this year on the show. She will play Ellenore, Vincent's one-time love who continues to support him through his travails.

Joining the company is Taylor Sieve, who placed third this year on SYTYCD. Taylor will dance the part of Charlotte, Vincent's protective sister.

SHAPING SOUND founding partner NICK LAZZARNI will dance the part of Leo, Vincent's brother and sometimes tormentor. Nick is the first-ever, Season One SYTYCD winner.

They will be joined by Barton Cowperthwaite who dances the role of Sebastian, the ill-fated lover,MICHAEL KEEFE (Clyde), JAY JAY DIXONBEY (Edwin) and RILEY KURILKO (Swing).

Rounding out the company are longtime SHAPING SOUND alumni and favorites CHANTEL AGUIRRE (Lily), CHANNING COOKE (Associate Choreographer and Swing), RORY FREEMAN (Luther), KATE HARPOOTLIAN (Rose), and Toronto native Lindsay Leuschner (Vera).

SHAPING SOUND

The dance company SHAPING SOUND was established in Los Angeles in 2012 by Travis Wall and partners NICK LAZZARINI, TEDDY FORANCE and Kyle Robinson. The company is an evocative collaboration by diverse artists who describe themselves as 'visual musicians,' i.e. their dance gives shape and form to sound. The four dancers broke into public awareness in a big way with the debut of the reality television series All The Right Moveson the Oxygen channel. The popular series followed these lifelong friends and roommates in their quest to launch their own dance company - the company that is now the enormously successful SHAPING SOUND. Their first show Dance Reimagined, toured North America for four consecutive years.

THE NATIONAL THEATRE

Located on Pennsylvania Avenue near the White House, the National Theatre opened in 1835 and is one of the country's oldest continuously operating theaters. The National has long been known as one of the leading pre-Broadway venues, with SHOW BOAT; HELLO, DOLLY!; and WEST SIDE STORY among the many shows that hit the National stage prior to New York. The National continued that tradition this season by hosting the pre-Broadway world premiere of the musical MEAN GIRLS. Many of the world's leading performers have graced the "Stage of our Nation," including Washington, D.C.'s own Helen Hayes, Audrey Hepburn, Katharine Hepburn, Eartha Kitt, Ian McKellen, Sir Laurence Olivier, Robert Redford, Chita Rivera, Will Rogers, and George C. Scott to name but a few. JAM Theatricals, under the direction of Steve Traxler and Arny Granat, began programming and managing the National Theatre in 2012. Since then, theatrical presentations have included the pre-Broadway engagement of IF/THEN with Idina Menzel, BLITHE SPIRIT starring Angela Lansbury, JERSEY BOYS, and the Washington premieres of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL, AMERICAN IDIOT, FUN HOME, andNEWSIES. In addition, the National has recently presented many special events and concerts, including Kacey Musgraves, Dave Koz, Bryan Adams, Bill Burr and Eddie Izzard.
