NextStop and Faction of Fools Co-Produce a New Adaptation of PINOCCHIO!, Now thru 3/30

Faction of Fools Theatre Company and NextStop Theatre Company are proud to announce their upcoming co-production of PINOCCHIO!, a new adaptation of Carlo Collodi's beloved tale about a marionette's journey to become a real boy, running today, March 8-30, 2014 at the Industrial Strength Theatre in Herndon. Written and Directed by Paul Reisman, this production will be the first collaboration by the two DC area theatre companies, as well as Faction's first play specifically geared toward young audiences.

"Collodi's story is so lively and adventurous, it's a perfect match for the theatricality of Commedia," said Faction of Fools' Associate Artistic Director, Paul Reisman. "But it's also got a great heart. Pinocchio's journey is an exciting roller coaster that's home again, safe and sound in 50 minutes."

Five versatile actors will perform dozens of characters in this action-packed adaptation, featuring Jack Novak (Synetic Theatre, Cowardly Christopher Finds His Courage; Washington Improv Theatre), Toby Mulford (Faction, Commedia Christmas Carol, Hamlecchino, R&J; Round House,Amadeus), Hannah Sweet (Faction, Don Juan; Lean and Hungry Theater), Justin Purvis (Faction,Hamlecchino; Washington Improv Theatre), and Alani Kravitz (WSC Avant Bard, Friendship Betrayed; Signature Theatre; The Kennedy Center).

Melding Commedia dell'Arte's expressive style with Collodi's fantastical universe is a team of DC's finest theatrcial designers. Costume Design by Lynly Saunders (Faction's Lady Becomes Him,R&J, Mandrake; Washington National Opera costume studio), Scenic Design by Daniel Flint (Faction's Lady Becomes Him, R&J, Mandrake; Taffety Punk), Music Composed by Jesse Terrill (Folger; Constellation; Faction's Lady Becomes Him, Commedia Christmas Carol, Hamlecchino,R&J, Mandrake), Puppets and Properties Design by Dan Mori (Discovery Theatre; Synetic Family; Adventure MTC), Mask Design by Tara Cariaso (Waxing Moon Masks; Faction's Commedia Christmas Carol), and additional masks by Aaron Cromie.
