Martha Redbone to Perform at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian Inaugural Ball, 1/21

By:

Martha Redbone, one of the 21st Century’s leading contemporary Native American recording artists will be performing at the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the re-election of President Barack Obama. "I am thrilled and humbled to be invited to share our music on this glorious occasion; Indian Country knows how to celebrate with grace and honor and I'm looking forward to rockin' out!" Redbone exclaimed. Martha’s spectacular big band performed this past summer at the NYC opening of the National Museum of the American Indian’s "Up Where We Belong" exhibition. For the Inaugural Ball, Ms. Redbone will play the music of Native American music icons such as Jimi Hendrix and Buffy Sainte-Marie as well as her own acclaimed gumbo of Native roots, blues and funk.

Tickets to the National Museum of the American Indian’s Inaugural Ball on January 21, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. may be purchased at (202) 459-0868 or NMAI@linderassociates.com.

2012 has been an extraordinary year for the "powerful" (The New Yorker) musician of Cherokee, Choctaw, Shawnee and African-American descent. Martha's new beloved album The Garden of Love - Songs of William Blake, produced by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Founder and multiple Grammy Award Winner John McEuen -- an Americana tribute to Martha's grandparents' roots in Appalachia -- is receiving international acclaim and considerable airplay across the country, including features on NPR's All Things Considered with Robert Siegel and WNYC's Soundcheck and New Sounds, hosted by John Schaefer, while riding high on Billboard's and Amazon's Folk charts.
