Keegan Theatre's Boiler Room Series Launches 3rd Annual WOMXN on Fire Festival

Keegan's Boiler Room Series is pleased to announce the return and expansion of the 3rd annual WOMXN on Fire Festival at Keegan Theatre, February 11-17, 2019. Building on the success and audience feedback of the 2017-18 festival, this year's festival will feature a full week of new womxn-written and womxn-directed 10-minute plays, one-act plays, staged readings, and cabarets all fully staged in rep. This year's festival launches new educational programming with Little Womxn, a workshop for kids (of all genders) led by some of Keegan's most dynamic teaching artists. Over the course of a week, audiences will have the opportunity to interact with an exciting and eclectic group of new works, playwrights, directors, performers, and teaching artists.

WHY THE X?
We use the word womxn for 2 reasons; to define ourselves for ourselves and not in relation to men, and to celebrate trans and gender non-conforming folks within this festival, as we recognize that the future is non-binary.

"Keegan's Boiler Room Series couldn't support the development of new works without the generous support of our festival sponsor, Marcie Cohen," says Boiler Room producer Josh Sticklin. "Her commitment to supporting fresh voices in American theatre is inspiring. Thanks to the support of the DC Commision on the Arts and Humanities and our heroic patrons like Marcie, all artists involved in the festival will receive a stipend." If you are interested in supporting the artists that will make this festival happen, please donate on our Generosity Page here: https://igg.me/at/9j-DEpx211k

Tickets for all events are $25, with a discounted 6-ticket festival pass for $90 (no fees). For full event schedule and ticket link: https://keegantheatre.com/event/womxn-on-fire-festival/-c47b0b4d-1cc5
