Theatre for the Game of Thrones fan: In two plays from Shakespeare's contemporaries, Brothers and Sisters defy the greatest taboo and fall in love. Incestuous passion threatens to overcome reason, but to very different results. Brave Spirits Theatre pairs John Ford's gruesome tragedy,'Tis Pity She's a Whore, with Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher's rarely produced tragicomedy, A King and No King.

A repertory cast of twelve performs both plays. The cast includes BST Artistic Associates Jenna Berk, Danny Cackley, Briana Manente, and Ian Blackwell Rogers. Artistic Director Charlene V. Smith directs 'Tis Pity She's a Whore. BST Artistic Associate Cassie Ash directs A King and No King, never before professionally staged in the DC metropolitan area.

Performances run from March 30th to April 23rd, 2017, and will take place at the Lab at Convergence at 1819 N. Quaker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22302. Tickets are $20 for one play, $30 for both, and can be bought at the door or at www.bravespiritstheatre.com.

For Brave Spirits, Smith has previously directed Antony and Cleopatra, Richard III and The Two Noble Kinsmen, and co-directed The Two Gentlemen of Verona and The Bloody Banquet. She has been hailed by Shakespeareances.com as "a director with a vision as keen and a hand as sure as any in the business." Ash has previously served as the dramaturg on The Maid's Tragedy and Arden of Faversham. She has assistant directed at regional theatres such as the Folger, Studio Theatre, and the American Shakespeare Center.
