Leonard Nimoy's VINCENT Coming to Vermont Festival of the Arts, 8/21-31

Leonard Nimoy's Vincent will be presented by Starry Night Theater Company, a professional touring company, for ten performances at the 2014 Vermont Festival of the Arts in Waitsfield. The passionate and turbulent life of Vincent van Gogh is dramatized in this intimate one-man play, which author Leonard Nimoy (Star Trek's Mr. Spock) adapted from hundreds of letters between Vincent and his closest ally, his brother, Theo. In van Gogh's lifetime, he sold only one painting and critics labeled his work "madness" in which "blood and fire appear to have usurped the place of color." But his story is so much more than that of the misunderstood genius who cut off his own ear.

The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps and Gowns, Roger Bean's family-friendly jukebox musical, opens August 14th at Weston's second stage and will have audiences laughing, tapping their toes, and singing along (softly, please) with popular songs from the 50s and 60s. If you saw the prequel, which had a very successful run in Weston in 2010, you know you're in for a good time.

Dorset Theatre Festival will present The Mousetrap, Dame Agatha Christie's masterpiece of mayhem and mystery, from August 14th through the 30th at the Dorset Playhouse. The Mousetrap, in addition to being one of Christie's most famous works, has the distinction of being the world's longest continually running play. The original production, at London's Ambassador Hotel, has been running continuously since 1952!
