Town Hall Theater to Screen SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER, 4/5

THT's next offering from NT Live will be She Stoops to Conquer.

The ingenious plot, in which the hero mistakes a private house for an inn, the woman he is supposed to be wooing for a barmaid and his future father-in-law for the landlord raises all kinds of questions about class divisions and snobbery.  Everything works itself out in the end, of course, but lessons are learned.  And the laughter, in this particular production, is non-stop. 

“I think only talentEd English actors can do Restoration comedy the way it should be done,” says THT Executive Director Douglas Anderson.  “The dialogue can be hilarious and positively breathtaking in its verbal dexterity and wit.  When it’s done right, it’s the freshest, funniest comedy you’ve ever heard.”   

She Stoops to Conquer will be broadcast at Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater on Thursday, April 5 at 7 pm.  Tickets are $17 general, $10 students, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, by calling 382-9222, at the THT Box Office or at the door.
