Puppeteer Brad Shur visits from Boston to present "The Magic Soup and Other Stories," at Sandglass Theater in Putney on Saturday, February 2nd.

Uncle Murray is coming over for dinner, but there's no food in sight! A young man's search for a family recipe brings folk tales to life in the fast-food-filled kitchen of his bachelor pad. Based on a collection of traditional Yiddish stories, "The Magic Soup" teaches that it is those with wit, humor and imagination who have the best chance of filling their bellies - and fulfilling their dreams.

This is the second performance in the 2013 Winter Sunshine Series of Family Performances at Sandglass. Shows are at 2:00 & 4:00, and all tickets are $8. Reservations are strongly recommended; call the Sandglass box office at 802-387-4051. There are only 60 seats available per performance.

The Winter Sunshine Series continues on February 23rd, Jim Napolitano of Nappy's Puppets brings us "Shadows Around the World." On March 16th, Magical Moonshine Theatre is coming all the way from California to bring us "Tales of Br'er Rabbit." And Sandglass Theater's own Ines Zeller Bass returns on April 6th to close out the series with "Isidor's Cheek."
