THE BARBER OF SEVILLE Broadcasts Live from the Met at THT Today

By: Nov. 22, 2014
Bartlett Sher's effervescent production of Rossini's The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) returns to Town Hall Theater's big screen as part the Metropolitan Opera "Live in HD" series.

The popular production, featuring some of the most instantly recognizable melodies in all of opera, stars Isabel Leonard as the beautiful and feisty Rosina, who won't be kept under lock and key. Lawrence Brownlee is her conspiring flame, Almaviva, and Christopher Maltman is the wild and coniving barber, Figaro.

"This is some of most infectious music ever composed," says THT artistic director Douglas Anderson. "This production is laugh-out-loud funny, and I think it would be a great way to introduce a young person to the glories of opera."

Anderson will give a pre-show talk about the opera at 12:15 on the lower level of the theater.

The Barber of Seville (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) will be screened live from Lincoln Center today, November 22 at 1:00 pm. Tickets are $24/$10 students, and may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sun, noon-5 pm) and at the door.
