Eric Bass and Ines Zeller Bass have been creating theater together for over 25 years. They began Sandglass Theater in 1982 with Sand in Germany. It was a love story, which told in images the dreams and expectations that two individuals from different worlds carried into the beginning of their young relationship. With All Weather Ballads, Eric and Ines come full circle to celebrate their long history with each other and with Vermont the place they have called home since 1986. This new love story follows the relationship of a couple who do not know they are destined to meet and spend their lives together, playing in, fighting against, and working through the metaphor of Vermont's moody weather. With All Weather Ballads, Eric and Ines have brought together themes and images through which they can reflect on their art, their aging, and their identities.

All Weather Ballads is a visual theater piece incorporating original ballads by Eric Bass with music by Keith Murphy. The five-song cycle, interpreted by Vermont musician Nick Keil, portrays the stages of life through metaphors of the northern rural experience, when we are stuck in the mud, lost in the aroma of harvest fruit, or reflected in the frozen membrane of an icy lake. It is about a sense of place and those moments when we look both forward and backward in time. All Weather Ballads is a performance of dry humor, ironic poignancy, and elemental cursing which takes the audience through five scenes, each a metaphorical world, a state of being.

"...beautifully imagined, filled with moments that are by turns whimsical,
wistful, and at times profoundly moving."
Brent Englar -Broadway World
