Photo Flash: Meet the Cast of GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER at Saint Michael's Playhouse
Producing Artistic Director Chuck Tobin today announced the July 20th opening of the Vermont Premiere of Todd Kreidler's stage adaptation of the Academy Award-winning film Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, at Saint Michael's Playhouse (July 20 - 30). Directed by Kathryn Markey the cast features (in alphabetical order) JAmes Brown III as Dr. John Prentice, Sarah Carleton as Christina Drayton, Erik Kilpatrick as John Prentice Sr., Abby Lee as Hilary St. George, Kimberlee Monroe as Mary Prentice, Dorcas Sowunmi as Matilda Banks, Lilly Tobin as Joanna Drayton, M. Emmet Walsh as Monsignor Ryan, Mark Zeisler as Matt Drayton.
Set in the late 60s, a wealthy, white couple's proud, liberal sensibilities are shaken when their daughter brings her African-American fiancé home to meet them. Both sets of parents must confront their own unexpected reactions and concerns for their children as their beliefs are put to the test. A warm and loving exploration of family and culture and knowing which of them has the greater hold on our hearts.
The creative team is led by director Kathryn Markey and includes Lauren Mills (scenic design), Tracey Sullivan (costume design), John Paul Devlin (lighting design), Harry Chaikin (sound design), Jennifer M. Higgins (property design).
Performances begin on The Playhouse stage Wednesday, July 20.
