Just in time for Halloween, Town Hall Theater and the MET Live in HD will broadcast Verdi's Macbeth, the timeless tale of murder, witchcraft and revenge on the THT big screen today, October 14 at 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets for both shows are $10, much lower than the regular season rate of $24.

"With the lower ticket price and shows at 1 and 7pm, we hope more people will come out to THT and give opera a shot," says THT Operations Manager Haley Rice. "This is a terrific production for people who don't traditionally see opera. The scale is grand, the story is familiar, and it's creepy and chilling- perfect for Halloween. Also, it's one of the shorter operas this year, so it's less daunting than some of the longer works."

Anna Netrebko moves boldly into Verdi with her portrayal of the mad and murderous Lady Macbeth. Bloomberg calls her performance "one of the greatest triumphs in recent Met history ... A riveting performance dispatched with artistry and fearless intensity." The New York Times calls Netrebko "a soprano with star power in the best sense, a charismatic expressivity that pervades every element of her performance."

Adrian Noble's production also stars Željko Lucic as Macbeth, Joseph Calleja as the noble Macduff and René Pape as Banquo. Fabio Luisi conducts.

A free introductory talks about the opera will be given by Scott Morrison at 12:15pm and at 6:15pm by Greg Vitercik. Refreshments will be served. Sponsored by the Opera Company of Middlebury.

Tickets for both screenings of MACBETH are $10. Reserved seating is available through the THT Box Office: 802-382-9222, www.townhalltheater.org. Approximate running time 2 hrs. 53 min.
