ANALOG AND VINYL, Christopher Lloyd in UNCLE VANYA and More Set for Weston Playhouse Theatre's 2014 Season

Vermont's award-winning Weston Playhouse Theatre Company has announced its 2014 season of shows - a summer of Broadway blockbusters and exciting new works. Highlights include the world premiere of Paul Gordon's rock musical Analog and Vinyl directed by Michael Berresse, Christopher Lloyd and Campbell Scott in Annie Baker's Uncle Vanya, and Obie winner Dael Orlandersmith in her one-woman Stoop Stories.

On the MainStage at the Weston Playhouse:

Analog and Vinyl, a new pop-rock musical set in a vintage record store. This world premiere by Broadway composer Paul Gordon follows struggling storeowner Harrison and his quirky co-worker, Rodeo Girl, when a mysterious stranger makes them a devilish offer they can't refuse. Michael Berresse, Broadway's (title of show) and Weston's acclaimed 2013 Next to Normal, will direct this production. Performances June 26 - July 12.

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, the hilarious and timely comedy by Christopher Durang. Reminiscent of comedy classics like You Can't Take It With You and Blithe Spirit, this Tony-winning play features three middle-aged siblings as they grapple with life and love in the company of a soothsaying cleaning woman, a sexy boy toy, and a star-struck ingénue. Performances July 17 - 26.

A Chorus Line. "What I did for love..." This legendary musical with songs by Marvin Hamlisch provides stirring glimpses into the lives of a group of dancers auditioning for spots in a Broadway chorus line. With its show-stopping songs, jaw-dropping dances, and heartfelt stories, this precursor to American Idol and The Voice is the show for anyone who has ever dreamed about life in the theatre! Performances July 31 - August 23.

Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, adapted by award-winning playwright Annie Baker. In this fresh take on a timeless favorite, an aging professor returns with his beautiful young wife to his family's country estate, causing tempers to flare and passions to ignite. Weston's production will be set in contemporary Vermont with a cast that includes actors Christopher Lloyd and Campbell Scott. Performances August 28 - September 6.

OtherStages at the Weston Rod & Gun Club:

The theatre's annual show for young families will be a hip new musical of The Three Little Pigs by Anthony Drewe and George Stiles (Broadway's Mary Poppins). Featuring Weston's talented Young Company from the country's top undergraduate theatre programs, this 50-minute musical at family-friendly times and prices will delight audiences of all ages. Performances June 19 - July 12.

Actor/playwright Dael Orlandersmith in the Vermont Premiere of her one-woman tour de force, Stoop Stories, played across the country to great acclaim. In one unforgettable act, Obie winner Orlandersmith takes audiences on a remarkable tour of New York City by embodying a gallery of intriguing characters - from the everyman to the extraordinary - all from a single uptown stoop. Performances July 24 - August 3.

The Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps and Gowns. In this Roger Bean sequel to the off-Broadway hit, a quartet of lovely ladies sing a dazzling set of tunes from the 50s and 60s. Favorites include "Rock Around the Clock," "At the Hop," and "River Deep, Mountain High." As with its predecessor, audiences are in for a great time in this infectious, family-friendly show. Performances August 14 - September 7.
