K-pop girl group FIFTY FIFTY has quickly earned attention for their distinct sound and emotional honesty. Blending pop and R&B influences, their music bridges global trends with authentic expression. Since their debut in 2022, the group has shown a rare ability to connect through sincerity and simplicity rather than spectacle. Now, with their latest release “Too Much Part 1,” they are ready to reveal a new side of themselves, capturing the thrill and uncertainty of first love through catchy melodies and confident performances.

Under the record label, ATTRAKT, FIFTY FIFTY debuted on November 18, 2022, with the mini album, “The Fifty.” The group’s name represents the balance between reality and idealism: two halves that come together to form something whole. Their fandom, TWENY, mirrors that connection, symbolizing how the group and their fans face one another and grow together.

FIFTY FIFTY’s rise to fame was sparked by Cupid, the 2023 single that became a global sensation. The song climbed to number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for 25 consecutive weeks, the longest run ever for a K-pop song. It also hit number two on the Billboard Global 200 and reached the top 10 in the UK, while soundtracking millions of TikTok videos worldwide. With its soft melody and emotional clarity, Cupid introduced the group’s distinctive tone: smoother, heartfelt, and easy to connect with.

After Cupid, FIFTY FIFTY built on their success with EP releases like “Love Tune” and “Day & Night,” expanding their sound while keeping their identity intact. Their music often leans into Western pop influences, with English hooks and polished production that highlights their crossover appeal. In 2024, their partnership with Arista Records marked a new milestone, opening the door to international collaborations and performances. The group also contributed to the Barbie movie soundtrack and completed a U.S. tour, strengthening their global presence.

In August 2024, FIFTY FIFTY began a new chapter with a refreshed lineup. Original member Keena was joined by four new additions: Chanelle Moon, Yewon, Hana, and Athena, marking the start of a new era for the group. Each brings a unique tone to their evolving sound. Keena’s expressive rap and vocals, Chanelle’s soulful depth, Yewon’s clear tone, Hana’s bright energy, and Athena’s confident stage presence have together reshaped the “Fifty Pop” sound into something bolder and dynamic.

With “Too Much Part 1,” FIFTY FIFTY proves once again their ability to turn emotion into melody and connection into art. The five members continue to explore new styles while staying true to the storytelling that defines their music. With this comeback and their future projects, the group stands ready to expand their creative reach and build upon their growing global success.

As they celebrate this new chapter, I spoke to Keena, Chanelle Moon, Yewon, Hana, and Athena of FIFTY FIFTY over Zoom on behalf of BroadwayWorld about the release of their 3rd digital single, “Too Much Part 1.” The group opened up about the stories and emotions behind the project, their evolving teamwork, and how their authenticity continues to shape them as one of the most promising 4th generation K-pop girl groups to watch.

Hana described “Too Much Part 1” as a window into that instant when first love takes hold. “We wanted to capture the feeling of first love, a mix of excitement and nervousness that comes with new emotion,” she said. “We made it playful and reinterpreted it in our own FIFTY FIFTY style, both musically and visually.” The group’s sound, known among fans as “Fifty Pop,” has always focused on emotional connection and musical balance. This release stays true to that identity while introducing new styles and textures that highlight their growth.

The lead single, Eeny Meeny Miny Moe, distills the tension of a crush into pure pop adrenaline. Its chant-like hook and “Ba ba ba Badam” beat reflect the heart’s unsteady rhythm when love feels new. “There’s a line in the song that says, ‘my heart is fluttering, I feel dizzy,’” Yewon shared. “When I recorded that part, I felt like I was experiencing first love at that exact moment. I was so immersed in the music that the emotion came naturally.”

While Eeny Meeny Miny Moe reflects the group’s familiar “Fifty Pop”, the B-side song, Skittlez steps into new territory. “The two songs have very different styles,” Keena explained. “Eeny Meeny Miny Moe captures the sound people associate with us, while Skittlez experiments with a new genre and shows a fresh side of our music.”

Athena noted that experimenting with this new concept was both challenging and exciting. “We’re known for our easy-listening sound, so exploring a more hip-hop style with Skittlez felt new and different,” she said. “It took some adjustment, but we practiced a lot to make sure we could express this concept naturally and show a fresh side of ourselves.”

For Chanelle Moon, recording the English version of Eeny Meeny Miny Moe was a chance to share that same feeling with listeners around the world. “The emotions in both Korean and English versions are similar because the message stays the same,” she said. “We focused on the same feelings of excitement and nervousness that come with first love. The English version uses expressions that fit those emotions naturally, so it’s not an exact translation, but captures the same meaning.”

The attention to emotional detail is what keeps FIFTY FIFTY’s music feeling personal, even as their sound reaches global audiences. Whether in Korean or English, their lyrics invite listeners into moments of sincerity, colour, and warmth.

Since the lineup refresh in August 2024, when original member Keena was joined by Chanelle Moon, Yewon, Hana, and Athena, the group has developed a stronger sense of rhythm and trust. “When we first met, things were definitely a bit awkward,” Chanelle admitted. “Over time, we’ve built a rhythm together. Now we understand what each member needs to prepare and perform at our best.”

That teamwork extends into their creative decisions as well. Keena shared that maintaining authenticity starts long before recording begins. “Before every release, we think carefully about how to express FIFTY FIFTY’s unique colour and how to make it shine even more. We always take time to reflect and make sure our music feels true to who we are.”

When asked what sets them apart from other 4th generation K-pop girl groups, Hana pointed to the group’s shared focus on emotion. “What sets us apart is how we express emotions through sound,” she said. “Each member has a distinct voice, and together our different tones and styles create a colourful and diverse sound that represents who we are as FIFTY FIFTY.”

Athena added that their unity gives their journey meaning. “Our path has had both up and downs, but we’ve always stayed together and supported each other when it mattered most,” she said. “In those moments, I always feel grateful to have the members by my side.”

For Yewon, the message behind “Too Much Part 1” extends beyond its love-themed lyrics. “Most of our music explores different forms of love,” she said. “Each song expresses love in its own way, showing that there isn’t just one kind of feeling. Through our lyrics and performances, we hope listeners can sense these emotions. We also like to show new sides of ourselves with every music release, moments that might surprise people.”

FIFTY FIFTY’s journey continues to be one of transformation and heart. With “Too Much Part 1,” the group proves that their strength lies in more than catchy hooks or global charts, it’s the honesty and emotion they bring to every note. Their music captures the small but powerful moments that define connection, from the first flutter of love to the courage it takes to keep growing together.

As Keena, Chanelle Moon, Yewon, Hana, and Athena look ahead, their focus is clear: to keep evolving while staying true to the sound and sincerity that have made them stand out. In a fast-moving K-pop landscape, FIFTY FIFTY continues to show that emotion, when expressed with honesty, always leaves an impression.

FIFTY FIFTY released their 3rd digital single, “Too Much Part 1,” on November 4, 2025. It is now available on all streaming platforms and features the songs, Eeny Meeny Miny Moe, Skittlez, and Eeny Meeny Miny Moe (English ver)
