Corridors: A Podplay, Premiers at Vancouver’s Pacific Theatre

By: Oct. 27, 2011

This fall, Quiet Hum Theatre will present Corridors: A Podplay.

What exactly is a podplay? Just think of it as an interactive radio drama on your iPod. Corridors is staged onsite at the intriguing Chalmer's Heritage Building, which, as the meeting place of numerous organizations and individuals over the last century, makes for a naturally evocative story about history and memory.

Come satisfy your curiosity. Wind your way through Chalmers' many hallways, staircases and hidden nooks. Find yourself eavesdropping on a pair of young lovers, hear the secrets shared between close friends and even encounter a recovery group meeting gone wrong.

"Corridors is very much inspired by Neworld Theatre's PodPlay series. When I experienced their combination of walking tour-turned-radio play, I was immediately intrigued by this new and yet strangely intimate way of telling a story," says playwright and producer Joel Stephanson. "I decided mine should be set in this hundred year-old building," he adds, referring to the home of both Pacific Theatre and Holy Trinity Anglican Church in South Granville. "Just to sit in one of its many rooms and imagine a century of conversations taking place there was inspiration enough."

The show runs on most Fridays starting October 21 until December 30, 2011. Tickets for Corridors: A Podplay are available by calling the Pacific Theatre box office at 604-731-5518, online at www.pacifictheatre.org in person at the Pacific Theatre box office located at 1440 West 12th Avenue.
