JULIUS CAESAR
Cowards die many times before their death
As Caesars power grows, can murder become honourable?

This autumn sees friendship and honour clash as loyalties are shattered in a dangerous political world. Military hero Julius Caesar is unchallenged ruler of Rome, dictator in all but name. The people love him for his famous victories and apparent benevolence but behind the scenes powerful Romans are beginning to think twice. When the ambitious Cassius and the honourable Brutus, Caesar?s oldest friend, decide to take drastic action the lines between villains and heroes begin to blur.

Rome is re-imagined as a film noir set in pre war England, complete with cynical heroes, mysterious femme fatales and unexpected bursts of violence. Old friends, Caesar and Brutus once shared a vision for the liberty of Rome, yet the stronger Caesar becomes the more he as tighten his grip on power and the peoples city Brutus believes in is disappearing fast. Politics become personal, but if the bold and vain Caesar fails to act he may soon pay with his life. The beautiful and persuasive Cassius has a plan for his demise but can Romes self proclaimed saviour control the anarchy that may follow? How will the morally ambiguous Mark Anthony react? How safe is freedom when the old certainties vanish and friend and foe appear the same?

Following on from April's sold out production of The Merchant of Venice, Venture Wolf Productions return to the London Theatre with their exciting new staging of Julius Caesar, starring Charles Akuruka as Caesar, Adam Courting as Mark Anthony, Joshua Jewkes and Fiona Sager as Cassius. Charles is an English actor of Nigerian descent known for his presence and natural eloquence. Charles made his Shakespearean debut in April with his powerful and heart rendering Othello. Adam is an experienced and well known actor on the London Fringe, highlights from this year include, Malvolio in Twelfth Night and Antonio in The Merchant of Venice. Julius Caesar also presents an impressive ensemble of emerging and established talent including Anthony Acosta, Nick Leonard, Jack Rosecroft Blake Crimson, Nicola Westwood and Donna Marie Frances Smith as Calphurnia.

One of historys most infamous murder leaves us shocked and confused as Shakespeare combines poetic and powerful oratory with action and danger; Venture Wolf Productions invite you to re-examine morality in a modern society driven by power, image and fear. This November, come and see if liberty and freedom can be delivered by the assassin's knife?
