Timothy West and Prunella Scales are to become Joint Patrons of the Rose Friends Scheme, 2011.

Artistic Director of the Rose Stephen Unwin has a long standing relationship with actor Timothy West after directing him in Henry VI (Falstaff) and King Lear (King Lear), both for English Touring Theatre. Timothy performed at the Rose in 2008 in the critically acclaimed Rose Theatre production of The Winslow Boy.

Timothy West said "Prunella and I are delighted to become Joint Patrons of the Rose Friends Scheme; we have known and loved the theatre since it opened, and are enormously impressed with the wonderful work it does for Kingston, and for the whole country"

Friends play a crucial role in supporting the Rose and receive a variety of benefits including priority booking, news from behind the scenes and invitations to special events and receptions. A wide range of membership packages are available, ranging from £30 - £5,000.

Timothy and Prunella will take over from John Altman, who was Friends Patron in 2010.

Stephen Unwin said "We'd like to thank John Altman for his support and hard work over the past year. We are delighted to have Timothy West and Prunella Scales take over this ambassador role; they are incredibly supportive of the Rose. The Rose could not continue without the support of the Friends. It's a very important scheme and I urge those who enjoy the Rose to become a Friend".
